Shelley has over twenty five years of progressive experience in Arts Education in Arts Education and CTS/PAA. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Visual Arts, a Bachelor of Education, Master’s of Education, and I.B. Art & Design Certification.
Ms. Deck maintains a “life-long” learning philosophy. Her professional development has taken her to Victoria, Miami, New Mexico, Venezuela, Curacao, La Loche, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Calgary and Regina.
Shelley has worked as an art gallery educator/docent. International experiences include employment as an International Baccalaureate Art & Design Educator at the private International School of Curacao, Netherland Antilles, Caribbean. Alternative education experience includes providing education and life skills programming to young offenders in an open custody residential environment. University teaching experience includes the duties of a Faculty Associate in the Faculty of Education at The University of Lethbridge, Alberta. Shelley also has over six years of teaching experience at an ESL First Nations and Metis Community School in Northern Saskatchewan. Shelley currently works as an educator in rural Saskatchewan.
No stranger to grant applications, Shelley received $10,000 Alberta Foundation For the Arts in Education Grant for Brooks’ Composite High School arts education programs in 2004-2006. She also successfully completed a $7000 stop motion animation project grant at Kelliher School via the ArtsSmarts (Saskatchewan Arts Board) in 2010.
Shelley enjoys consulting with arts educators. Her website was launched in 2005 and has been used as a free source of information by both students and teachers internationally ever since.
Professional development includes WJ III (Woodcock Johnson) training, Project Criss, SWIS (School wide Information System), WYNN (Wizard and Reader), PBIS (Response to Intervention Positive Behaviour Inforcement Strategies), Levelled Literacy Intervention, F & P.
