Welcome to shelleydeck.com!
Update: 2015 is off to a great start! I anticipate much positive growth, creativity, hard work and good, clean fun this year. I am blessed with good health, a wonderful family, treasured friends, dedicated students and an inspiring community of artists as the year begins. I have much to be grateful for right now.
In the coming months, you will probably notice that my website is getting a bit of a face lift. It's been ten years since it's initial launch and it is long overdue. I am very excited to get the project underway and am currently looking for assistance on that end.
My new company, Catnip Republic Productions, is going to be featured more often on this website in the coming year too. I have begun to wade into the world wide web of online sales with a tiny virtual store. This virtual store will grow alongside the vintage camper I am currently restoring for the 'pop up' festival, tradeshow and farmers market physical store. I have developed a small line of t-shirts, cups and journals that feature my work in additional to the stream of originals available for purchase, licensing or royalties. There is much work to be done!
Over the winter holidays, I visited the Do What You Love For Life website and signed up for a fabulous (and free) writing class with Frances Booth, author of The Distraction Trap! By the end of the week, "The Purr Machine" was drafted by my co-writers and I, revised and ready for illustration (along with four others)! We hope to have it available online, in store and connected to a cat rescue charity by Summer 2015.
Many new assignment printables and powerpoints have been added to my Teachers Pay Teachers online store. Words can not express how inspiring collaborating, creating, selling as a teacherpreneur has been this past year for me. This month alone, I made over three times as many sales as I did all of last year! I still have a long way to go in my learning, but it is proving to be a wonderful learning journey.
In the classroom, I am very excited to be teaching Food Studies and Theatre Arts second semester. I have spent much time developing the course modules and am very much looking forward to both of these practical and applied arts experiences with my students. As time has permitted this semester, I have created a PVSD website based teacher page for current classes. This website includes student assignments, the class calendar, announcements and much more. NOTE: Teacher sites are password protected. Students will need to login using their network login. Parents can login using their child's login information. To login, visit this link.
In the coming year, you will notice that I am posting more and more art work to my website and on my Facebook page. That's because, as a Christmas present to myself this year, I gave myself Bootcamp with Lilla Rogers! I picked up her book during a trip to Saskatoon last Fall, loved it, found out more about her and signed up as soon as I learned that she offers online classes! Living in rural Saskatchewan, I no longer wonder if I can do what I want, where I am, with what I have to work with as an artist-teacher-writer-preneur. The dream is alive! I highly recommend buying her book. I am NOT lending mine out to anyone! :)
I have lots more website modifications, illustrations, lesson plans and teacher prep to do this Sunday afternoon, so I will sign off by thanking you for reading and being a witness to my journey. Thank you!
Have a great day!
